CLASS OVERVIEW; $80

Learn the basic techniques of throwing on a pottery wheel. Good for people with no experience or for someone who has taken a few classes and wants to learn more.

In this one-time class, you will be instructed on how to use a pottery wheel and create your own original work of art. Once you finish, you will pick from the house glaze colors. Each person is allowed one of their pieces to keep. If you would like to keep two there is an additional $10 fee.

After class, your piece will then be fired and glazed in the color of your choice by a member of our team. It’ll be ready for pickup approximately 4 weeks after class. Check the Pick-Ups Page to see if your number is listed. We hold pieces for 60 days before they are recycled.

If you do not live locally, we do offer a mailing option for an additional fee. We have no liability as to what happens to the product after it’s left the shop for delivery.

    My friend and I had a great wheel throwing class with Leslie! The space is so lovely and we got to sit by the window overlooking DeKalb. The class size is very small, it’s usually 4 people but this time it was just the two of us. Definitely worth the price for an intro to wheel throwing class. Leslie is full of energy and concrete tips for improving even over a short period of time.

    I took a wheel throwing class at Lucky Pig the week they opened. Leslie, my teacher was a pro. She had a ton of creative ideas and her passion for ceramics shines through. For a new studio the vibe is great, super relaxed and friendly. 100% recommend this place for classes, they do hand building ones too. Am thinking about studio membership if I can find the time later this year. Book a class, you'll have a great time.

FAQ / IMPORTANT INFO

    • 2 minute walk from Fulton St - G

    • 10 minute walk from Clinton-Washintong Av - A/C

    • 13 minute walk from Dekalb Ave - B/D/N/Q/R/W

    • 15 minute walk from Nevins St 2/3/4/5

    • You are entitled to one piece with a color of your choice from our selection. If you make a second piece and want to keep it it’s an additional $10.

    • Plus the priceless knowledge of the pottery world.

    • Intro to the Wheel Classes are $80

    • Pinch Pot Classes are $60

    • Paint-Your Own Pre-Made Pottery can range from $20-40 depending on which piece you choose. You get one hour to paint.

    • Classes range from 1 to 1.5 hours, please arrive at least 5 minutes early.

    • Nothing! Please do not bring any pets, even ones in strollers. It’s too dirty for them. Also if you signed up for an adult class please do not bring anyone under the age of 15.  

    • Clay can be a messy medium though, so don’t wear anything you will be too upset if it gets dirty. Most clay does wash out of clothes and hair though. Be aware no hand or wrist jewelry can be worn during the process, if you wear jewelry have a safe space to put it. We are not liable if it is lost although we will help you look for it.

    • For pinch pot/painting all ages are welcome.

    • For the wheel, ages 8 and up. Ages 8-14 sign up for a kids class, older than 15 can sign up for adult.

    • Check our firings page to make sure it’s ready. If you see that it is you can come Wednesdays or Saturdays from 2-9.

    • No. The whole point of Lucky Pig is to be a beginner. It’s supposed to be fun and low-stakes! Just enjoy yourself.

    • Amazing. Come grow your craft and get in touch with more potters, we love people who have a bit of experience to come to a class and try new techniques or just practice what they know.
